Gravitational Force Calculator

Enter two masses and the distance between their centers to calculate the gravitational force between them.

687.37 N

Uses Newton's law of universal gravitation, F = Gm₁m₂/r², with G = 6.674×10⁻¹¹ N·m²/kg². The default values estimate Earth's gravitational pull on a 70kg person at Earth's surface.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Enter the first mass in kilograms.
  2. 2Enter the second mass in kilograms.
  3. 3Enter the distance between their centers in meters.
  4. 4See the gravitational force.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the default result close to a person's weight?+

The defaults use Earth's mass and radius with a 70kg person, so the result approximates that person's weight (mg ≈ 686N) as a sanity check on the formula.
